🌆 WHAT TO DO IN IBADAN
Wine and dine with family and friends at Tamberma
This week, I and a few friends visited the famous Tamberma, an Indian-ish restaurant located at Quarters 894, Rev'd Oyebode Cres, Iyaganku.
Being a popular spot, it was quite easy to get there using a Bolt ride (and if you’re driving, you can easily navigate via Google Maps).
We arrived there a few minutes 3 pm to a serene yet lively scene.
The space
It’s undeniable that the setting at Tamberma is top-notch.
I particularly loved how they played around with a semi-indoor space — enclosed enough to enjoy a private dinner yet open enough to appreciate the surrounding view.
The decor is another thing that caught my interest.
Noticed I called Tamberma an ‘Indian-ish’ restaurant? Well, that’s because despite primarily being an Indian restaurant, the rustic decor successfully creates a mash up of different cultures.
The bamboo ceiling, clay pots, calabash lamps, wooden furniture, Adire table cloths, and rattan table mats interplay with the ceramic dishes, glassware and silverware to create a seamless blend of Indian, Nigerian, Chinese and Continental cultures.
The food
This cultural fusion also reflects in their menu which has a wide variety of option for all the aforementioned cultures.
We got to try their a few items from some of their menus:
Chinese Chicken Fried Rice (Bowl) - 1,800
Egg Fried Rice (Bowl) - 1,500
Chicken and Chips - 3,500
Jollof Rice - 3,500
Fried Rice - 3,500
Strawberry Daiquiri - 2,500
The good: Overall, the Jollof and Fried rice were nice. The Chicken was covered with Sesame seed and doused in a sauce, and tasted also really tasty great.
The bad: If you can’t stand food without spice, then avoid the Chinese Chicken and Egg Fried Rice. On its own, it taste ready bland and boring, but if you must, make sure you order for it with a suitable sauce and other sides.
Side note: This review is based on the few items we tried and is not representative of Tamberma’s wide offerings.
The service and experience
The service was generally good. Their waiters always had on a friendly smile and we also got the chance to give our feedback after eating.
We also got to explore most of the surrounding space and take lots of ‘instagram-worthy’ pictures. Although, for some reason (which we were not told), some areas were placed out of bounds to guests.
The verdict
Whether you’re looking to try out new food or need a nice spot to hang out with friends, take amazing photos and possibly make new friends during their weekly Karaoke event, Tamberma makes a great place to go.
We give them 4 stars
